Given a choice like that, go with the easier fit. Credence can replace weight without the sentence being changed in any way. Gravity is awkward; it isn’t "given" and the sentence would need to change for it to fit. In other words; gravity is a trick answer. The answer is C; credence.
The figurative vs. literal and "common phrase" technique only works some of the time; other times, you’ll have to delve deeper into the root words or contextual hints. But this is a start; more in a future installment.
