Police confirmed that a body recovered in a Yale University laboratory was that of a missing 24-year-old student, calling the death a homicide that 'wasn't a random act.'

The body belonged to Annie Le, a graduate student in pharmacology at Yale University Medical School who was reported missing Sept. 8. Ms. Le had planned to be married Sunday, the day her body was found.

Police said that late Sunday, after several days of searching, they had found the body 'within a wall,' in the tightly secured animal-research-laboratory building.

Yale President Richard Levin issued a statement saying, 'Our hearts go out to Annie Le's family, fiance and friends. I have met again with her family and conveyed to them the deeply felt support of the Yale community.'

Police spokesman Joe Avery declined to discuss the investigation or why the police believed it wasn't a random killing.
