It was extended on the foundation of the original Liuhou Temple in 1909 for commemorating the famous writer, thinker, politician Liu Zongyuan of Tang Dynasty. In the park, there are many historical sites relating to Liu Zongyuan, such as Liu Zongyuan cenotaph, Luochi and Ganxiang Pavillion.
