I slept till far in the night and when I woke up I caught the sound of oars. A boat was approaching. As it came nearer, I saw that my father was in it . He passed very close to me but he couldn't see me as I was hidden among the bushes. I listened to him as he landed and tied the boat up . Then I glided silently downstream. It didn't take me long to reach Jackson's Island. I landed where some thick bushes were growing and hid my canoe among them .
Day was breaking as I made my way into the woods and lay down to have a sleep before breakfast.
