一、整体考虑，分步实施 首先要明确德育要在语言教学中进行就必须深入钻研教材，根据教材特点和学生实际，找到并确定教材中训练的内容与思想教育内容的结合点，这是防止德育空泛化的重要措施。其次，要把学期或学年的内容制成表格，供备课和上课参考。表格应简明扼要，留有空间供随时增添材料。对一册或数册教材进行上述操作，就能从宏观角度来审视，具体到微观的每节课也就不难做到胸有成竹了。整体考虑旨在避免德育的随意性和盲目性，分步实施意在增强其计划性和针对性。如下图： 课文 结合点 内容 目的 方式 How Carl Marx Learn Foreign Language 学外语 针对学生存在的畏难情绪和模糊认识进行教育 提高学好外语的自信心 对比联系 Saving the Earth 节约用电，节约用水，保护环境卫生 针对学生宿舍水龙头不关，浪费粮食，乱丢废物等不良行为进行教育 提高学生节约用电、水，讲究个人卫生，爱我校园，保护环境的意识 从电视广告谈起 No Smoking, Please 吸烟有害 针对学生吸烟的坏习惯进行教育 提高对吸烟害处的认识 从美国烟草公司败诉谈起
二、抓住契机，借文发挥 如：教授完SB2A U9：Saving the earth一单元课文后提出问题：What lesson can we learn from this unit？学生的回答如下： S1：After learning this unit，we realize the serious condition of pollution，we should change the bad habit of throwing things here and there． S2：We should plant more trees and try to protect them．Anyone who cuts down trees will be punished． S3：We should protect wild animals and keep the balance of nature． S4：We should control the growing of the population．If the population goes on increasing，there will be only standing room for us next century． S5：If there is only standing room for us，it will be impossible for us to sit or to lie down．If we cant lie down，well get very tired． 上述各句始终围绕一个主题──拯救地球。教师的问题旨在唤起学生热爱和保护地球的意识。这样的结尾不仅能激发学生学习英语的兴趣，而且能使学生在思想和感情上得到启迪，使他们认识到要热爱我们祖国的大好河山，热爱大自然就要保护好环境。
三、方式多样，有机结合 根据课文的需要，有时在课文一开始就进行。如：SB2A U2 No Smoking，Please！一开始就问：“Is smoking a bad habit？If so，give some reasons and offer some advice to stop it．”这样的问题，有助于培养学生健康和文明的生活习惯。 另外，教单词短语时可联系学生的思想实际，教一些有教育意义的谚语。如：教success，secret，respect以及lead to等词时可引导学生说：“Industry is the mother of success．Where there is a will，there is a way．You had to believe yourself，that is the secret of success．Hard work leads to success，while idleness leads to failure．We should respect our parents and teachers；We should respect the old and respect others．”这样既达到了教育学生勤奋好学的目的，又使他们认识到尊老爱幼的传统美德，由此增强他们的社会责任感。
