Chinese shares closed up 3.20 percent on Monday after the government said last week it would continue its loose monetary policy next year, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 99.04 points at 3,195.30 on turnover of 160.3 billion yuan (23.5 billion dollars).
The Shanghai A-share index rose 103.73 points, or 3.19 percent, to 3,351.49 on turnover of 159.5 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index gained 50.72 points, or 4.25 percent, to 1,245.25 on turnover of 103.6 billion yuan.
