Chinese equities closed mixed Wednesday with the major Shanghai index edging down 0.45 percent after rising for two consecutive trading days.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 13.87 points, or0.45 percent, to end at 3,070.59.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 16.48 points, or 0.13 percent, to close at 12,692.72.
Combined turnover shrank slightly to 247.91 billion yuan (36.3 billion U.S. dollars) from 264.12 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 613 to 253 in Shanghai and 519 to251 in Shenzhen.
