Chinese shares closed down 2.65 percent on Monday amid liquidity worries due to the upcoming launch of the Nasdaq-style ChiNext board, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was down 75.32 points to 2,763.53 on turnover of 75.5 billion yuan (11.1 billion dollars).
The Shanghai A-share index shed 79.12 points, or 2.66 percent, to 2,899.87 on turnover of 75.3 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index lost 26.89 points, or 2.62 percent, to 998.62 on turnover of 42.8 billion yuan.
