SHANGHAI, September 25, 2009 - Chinese shares closed down 0.52 percent on Friday in thin trading, with metals companies leading the fall due to weak international commodity prices, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was down 14.71 points to 2,838.84 on turnover of 81.1 billion yuan (11.9 billion dollars).
The Shanghai A-share index shed 15.50 points, or 0.52 percent, to 2,978.98 on turnover of 80.9 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index lost 6.99 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1,025.51 on turnover of 44.5 billion yuan.
