SHANGHAI, July 22, 2009 - Chinese shares closed up 2.60 percent on Wednesday led by oil majors and coal producers amid expectations of higher prices, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, was up 83.41 points to 3,296.62 on turnover of 205.9 billion yuan (30.1 billion dollars).
The Shanghai A-share index rose 87.60 points, or 2.60 percent, to close at 3,460.72 on turnover of 205.3 billion yuan. The Shenzhen A-share index gained 17.43 points, or 1.53 percent, to 1,154.35 on turnover of 100.4 billion yuan.
