corruption n.腐坏；腐化；败坏

authentic adj.可靠的，可信的；真的

(二) 核心短语讲解
1. split...open劈开。 形容词open做动词split的宾语补足语。如：THe wood was split open by an ax.木头被一把斧子劈开了。
2. wear away冲刷（河底，河道）。如：The water woe the bottom of the canal aaway for many years.许多年来，水流一直冲刷眷运河的底部。
3. make some discoveries有了一些发现。 短语的构成与make some mistakes 相同。如：The scientists have made a big discovery lately.最近，科学家们有了一个重大的发现。
4. as far as 直到，到．．．．．．的程度，就．．．．．．而言。如：The house can dat back as far as 100 years.这座房子的历史可以追溯到１００年前。
5. be full of 充满。 相当于be filled with。如：The bottle is filled with water. 瓶子里充满了水。
6. some day将来某一天。 与somedaye不同，someday表示将来总有一天。如：
7. How come? 怎么会这样呢？ 相当于why，表达困惑或不解。用于非正式文体，是典型的口语化短语中。
8. much more 多得多 修饰比较级时，还可以用以下几个词，如：far,a bit , a little, a lot等。如：
This fair is much more comfortable.这把椅子要舒服得多。
9. seek to 尝试去做，试图去做。 相当于try to 的意思同。如：I try to make friends with her.我试着与她交朋友。
10. the majority大多数。 意思同most of。与之意思相对的是：the minority of 少数。如：The majority of boys are interested in electronic games.大多数男孩都对电子游戏感兴趣。
11. ride a bike 骑自行车。 ride表示“骑，乘”。如：He got on his bike and rode slowly off down the road. 他骑上自行车慢慢地沿着公路走。
12. count on指望，依靠，期待。 意思同rely on, depend on。如：I don't count on having the chance to study abroad.
我不指望有机会出国学习。
13. happen to碰巧。如：I happened to meet a friend of mine in the high school in the street yesterday.我昨天在大街上碰巧遇到了我高中时代的一个朋友。
